Demographics by Design.
We read with interest this recent article about the dynamics of each generation. In 2025 we enter the year of the Beta Generation, as every 15 years or so a new generation is born. Each generation is marked by some event which shapes that generation’s attitudes, culture and even how they live, work and play. How did the Covid-19 lockdowns drive work from home (WFH) and impact office space and housing?
Through ESRI, a data analytics company that uses a variety of sources, including the Census Bureau, we can slice and dice demographic data in a variety of ways. This data is a great tool in understanding our communities and markets, however, the real art within this science is in the interpretation of it. Population growth, average age, median income, and so on. So what? What does it mean?
Understanding how this impacts decision making about future land use, real estate, economic development and public health is a critical first step in any (strategic) planning process. Knowing who you are as a people will shape what you will become. Let us help you understand your generational and demographic dynamics and what it means for future planning.

Indeed’s 2025 US Jobs & Hiring Trends Report
Indeed released its annual report which can be found here. Will 2025 be the soft landing we expect? The data shows a slowing of monthly job growth since 2022. According to the report, “A smooth landing will also likely require more broad-based job gains next year. In addition to the slowing overall pace of job creation, those jobs that have been added in 2024 have been primarily concentrated in just three industries:
health care & social assistance, government, and leisure & hospitality, which combined represented almost 75% of all jobs added in the last 12 months.” This will be challenged by the incoming administration’s goals of streamlining and reducing government and healthcare reforms. Job creation is what drives real estate demand, so the industries that are growing are the ones to watch – particularly those that drive office and industrial space as well as multifamily and single-family housing.
